RIGRS ZQ Series drill pipe power tong

The RIGRS ZQ Series drill pipe power tong combines spinning and torque functions in a single open-throat unit. On both land and offshore drilling rigs, it can fully replace catheads, manual tongs, and spinning ropes for drill pipe make-up and break-out operations.
Application: Ideal for drilling rigs that want to eliminate manual cathead operations without upgrading to a fully automated Iron Roughneck system.

The power tongs have the following features:

• 1.Using pneumatic power to shift and drive backup tong;
• 2.It is a integral mechanism made by spin tong and torque tong;
• 3.Changing gear allowed during operation;
• 4.New or old drilling pipe joint could be clamped reliably;

Which ZQ Drill Pipe Power Tong Should I Choose?

RIGRS supplies several ZQ configurations with different gripping ranges and torque capacities.
As an initial guide:

ZQ127 Series Power Tong

Suitable when the required tool-joint diameter and connection torque fall within the smaller ZQ operating range.

ZQ162 Series Power Tong

Suitable for medium-size drill pipe connections requiring greater gripping range and torque capacity.

ZQ203 Series Power Tong

Designed for larger tool-joint diameters and substantially higher make-up and breakout torque requirements.

The final selection must be based on the tool joint OD, not just the nominal drill pipe body OD.

ZQ Series Drill Pipe Power Tong vs. XQ114/6B Tubing Power Tong — Which One Should You Choose?

The ZQ Series is designed specifically for drill pipe handling on drilling rigs and workover rigs. If your operation mainly involves tubing or sucker rod strings in the 2⅜” to 4½” size range, the XQ114/6B tubing power tong is the better choice.
