Description
Compact, Modular and Field-Ready Drilling Rig for Oilfield Drilling, Workover and Remote Site Operations
Skid-mounted drilling rigs are widely used in oilfield development projects where fast rig moves, modular transportation, and simplified site installation are required.
Compared with conventional rig structures, skid-mounted rigs can reduce site preparation work and improve relocation efficiency between wells.
RIGRS supplies skid-mounted drilling rigs for drilling depths from 1,500 m to 9,000 m, with configurations available for workover, development drilling, and exploration projects.
Structural Design and Verification
Every mast and substructure undergoes finite element analysis (FEA) and is physically load-tested to meet API Spec 4F regulations. We eliminate structural liability, supporting safe operation when used according to operating procedures under extreme winds (up to 100 knots hook-load free) and harsh ambient temperatures down to -40℃ or up to +55℃.
Modular Configuration for Field Relocation
Optimized block-skidded module packaging enables rapid rig-up and rig-down cycles. Mast, substructure, drawworks, and power generation units are skidded with heavy-duty structural steel oilfield bases, cutting field-to-field mobilization times by up to 35% and drastically reducing third-party crane rental fees.
Optional Internationally Recognized Components
We integrate globally recognized, top-tier components (such as Cat or Cummins engines, Allison transmissions, and premium API-monogrammed mud pumps). This ensures universal spare parts availability, simplifying long-term supply chain inventory management and reducing global logistics overhead.
Optional Drilling Control and Monitoring Systems
Equipped with an ergonomic cyber-chair or localized conventional Driller’s Console featuring integrated PLC monitoring systems. Real-time data tracking optimizes drilling parameters (WOB, ROP, pump pressure), extending drill bit and tool string service lifespans while minimizing non-productive time (NPT).

A rig package for oilfield development, workover or service operation
Easier installation compared with fully fixed rig structures
Better equipment integration than scattered individual machines
The final rig configuration should be confirmed according to actual well data and operation plan.
Main Configuration Modules
A skid mounted drilling rig is not a single machine. It is a complete system. The final package can be adjusted according to drilling depth, operation type and buyer budget.
1.Mast and Substructure
The mast and substructure provide the lifting and working platform for drilling operations. The design should match the required hook load, setback capacity, floor height and BOP installation space.
Common points to confirm:Rated hook load,Mast height,Substructure height,Rotary table height,BOP stack clearance,Wind load requirement,Transport dimension limitation.
2.Drawworks System.
The drawworks is one of the core systems of the rig. It provides hoisting power for drilling and tripping operations.
Selection should consider:Required hook load,Drilling depth,Line arrangement,Brake system,Power source,Operation control method,Maintenance convenience
3.Rotary System
The rotary system can be selected according to the rig type and drilling method. Depending on the project, the rig can be configured with rotary table system or other suitable rotation solution.
Key selection factors:Torque requirement,Rotary speed,Drill string size,Well depth,Drilling program,Available power.
4.Mud Circulation System
The mud system is critical for drilling performance. The rig can be matched with mud pumps, mud tanks, solids control equipment and high-pressure manifolds according to the drilling program.
Typical mud system equipment may include:Mud pump,Mud tank,Shale shaker,Desander,Desilter,Centrifugal pump,Mud agitator,Mud gun,High-pressure manifold.
5.Mud Piping System
The suction and discharge piping system should be designed according to:Mud pump capacity,Working pressure,Flow rate,Drilling fluid properties,Site layout.
6.Power System
The power system can be diesel engine driven, electric driven or diesel-electric according to the project requirement and site power condition.
Before selection, buyers should confirm:Available fuel or power source,Local maintenance capability,Power demand of major equipment,Fuel consumption concern,Noise or emission requirement,Spare parts availability.
7.Control System
The control system can be configured according to the automation level required by the buyer. For basic rigs, simple and reliable operation is often more important than complex automation. For higher-end projects, integrated monitoring and control can be considered.
8.Well Control Equipment
According to drilling risk and project requirement, the rig package can be matched with BOP, accumulator unit, choke manifold, kill manifold and related control lines.
Well control equipment should be confirmed based on:Well pressure,Casing program,BOP size and pressure rating,Local regulation,End-user requirement,Available rig floor space,Auxiliary Equipment.
Depending on the scope of supply, auxiliary equipment may include:Drill floor tools,Handling tools,Air winch,Hydraulic power unit,Lighting system,Camp interface equipment,Walkways and ladders,Safety guardrails,Spare parts package.
Modular skid-mounted Key Advantages
Major equipment can be arranged on skid structures, making the rig easier to transport, position and install compared with scattered equipment layouts.
Flexible configuration
The rig can be configured according to well depth, hook load, mud system requirement, power source, site space and budget.
Suitable for relocation between wells
For projects with multiple wells in the same oilfield block, the skid-mounted structure can help simplify repeated movement and field setup.
Practical for remote sites
The modular design is suitable for areas where road conditions, lifting equipment, site preparation and installation resources are limited.
Integrated drilling package support
RIGRS can help match rig structure, mud system, power system, well control equipment and accessories into one practical package.
Engineering-based quotation
We do not recommend quoting a rig only by a simple product name. A suitable rig proposal should be based on well depth, drilling program, target hook load and operating condition.
On-Site Operation Guide
To maintain structural certification and maximize the operational lifespan of the drilling rig asset, the following engineering boundaries must be strictly observed by the operator’s engineering team:
Hook Load vs. Wind Load Ratings
Max static hook load ratings are calculated under zero wind load. When operational winds exceed 60 knots, hook load capacities must be derated in strict compliance with the provided API 4F wind-load operating charts.
Foundation & Skidding Ground Bearing Capacity (GBC)
Ensure the drilling pad or timber matting layout meets minimum GBC requirements. Uneven structural settling during high-tonnage drilling operations induces torsional stress on the substructure pins, risking catastrophic weld fatigue.
Crown Block & Mast Misalignment
Routine vertical alignment checks of the traveling block to the rotary table center must be executed post-mobilization. Misalignment greater than 0.5% of mast height causes uneven loading on mast legs and premature wear on the guide tracks.
VFD/SCR Harmonic Mitigation
For AC-VFD or DC-SCR rig power grids, ensure harmonic filters are active. Power surges or unmitigated electrical harmonics can damage critical automation PLCs and top drive electronic controls, resulting in costly electronic NPT.
