Description
RIGRS Mud Pump Piston Assembly and Replacement Rubber Pistons
RIGRS supplies piston pump parts used in drilling and service pumps to support maintenance and reduce downtime. Common items include pistons, valves and seats, packing, liners and other wear parts. We support OEM-compatible matching based on pump model/series and critical dimensions. Send your pump model and required part list (or photos) and we will confirm specifications, lead time and pricing.
The mud pump piston assembly is one of the main components of the fluid end system of the mud pump and also one of the vulnerable parts in drilling work. The discharge pressure of the mud pump is generating by the reciprocating linear motion of the mud pump piston assembly inside the cylinder liner. It has the characteristics of high-pressure resistance, anti-eccentric wear, and easy disassembly, and is recommending for operation under mud conditions such as water-based mud, oil-based mud, high-temperature and high-pressure pumps. Our products are 100% interchangeable with OEMs in every aspect.
We supply bonded piston options in common materials such as urethane and NBR to suit different temperature, abrasion, and service requirements.
Pistons can be provided in OEM-compatible sizes based on your mud pump model/series and liner size. Inspection records and export packing support are available on request. For fast selection, send your pump model, liner size, preferred material, and quantity. We will confirm the correct specification and provide pricing and lead time.

Oilfield mud pump piston supplier – RIGRS
The material of the piston core is 42CrMo.
The material of the piston rubber is nitrile rubber or polyurethane rubber.
RIGRS can supply Drilling Pump Piston Assemblies Metric (inches) in various sizes of F Series, 3NB Series, 9-P-100/13-P-130/12-P-160 Series, PZ7/8/9 Series. Piston rubber, also known as piston cup, is a consumable part in the hydraulic system of a drilling pump and is one of the largest wearing parts in drilling work.
Piston rubber is made from rubber vulcanization. The material of ordinary piston rubber is nitrile rubber. However, if PU is using, the operating temperature range can be extending.

Consumable Structural Profiles & Fluid Compatibility
Premium Wear Resistant Piston for Mud Pump Service
Designed for severe drilling environments where high-solid drilling fluids rapidly degrade standard sealing elements.
Sealing Infrastructure: Features a high-tensile, bonded polyurethane mud pump swab lip that resists abrasion from sharp sand and proppant particles.
Thermal Capability: Engineered to maintain structural rigidity and durometer rating in temperatures up to 220°F (104°C).
Liner Protection: The extended trailing lip design ensures a uniform sealing force, actively clearing abrasive cake from the inner liner wall to prevent heavy scoring.
Heavy-Duty Mud Pump Rubber Piston (Conventional WBM Runs)
An economically optimized solution for shallow-to-medium exploration wells and drilling operations utilizing standard water-based muds.
Metallurgical Core: Forged from high-yield carbon steel, treated with anti-corrosive industrial coatings to resist chemistry attacks from harsh drilling fluids.
Fabric Cushion Backing: Integrated with heavy-duty fabric reinforcement layer at the mud pump piston base to prevent rubber extrusion during high-pressure discharge strokes up to 5,000 PSI.
Signs That a Mud Pump Piston Should Be Replaced
A piston may require replacement when the operator observes:
Drilling fluid leakage
Reduced pump discharge efficiency
Pressure fluctuation
Abnormal liner temperature
Rubber cracking or tearing
Uneven piston wear
Separation between rubber and steel hub
Frequent liner washout
Visible damage during fluid-end inspection
Continuing to operate a damaged piston can increase liner wear and cause additional fluid-end downtime.
API mud pump piston manufacturer FAQ:
Q1: Are your piston pump pistons compatible with international mud pump brands?
A: Yes. Our pistons are fully compatible with most international brands, including F-Series mud pumps (F-500, F-800, F-1000, F-1300, F-1600), and can be customized for National, Emsco, Gardner Denver, and other models upon request.
Q2: What materials are using in your mud pump pistons?
A: We use high-strength forged steel for the core and premium rubber compounds like NBR, HNBR, or polyurethane, depending on the drilling fluid and temperature requirements. This ensures excellent wear resistance and longer service life.
Q3: What is the typical delivery time?
A: For standard models, we maintain ready stock and can ship within 3–7 working days. Custom orders may take 25–30 working days depending on complexity.
Q4: What is the difference between a rubber piston and a urethane piston?
A: Rubber pistons are commonly selected for general drilling service and routine maintenance. Urethane pistons are often considered where improved abrasion resistance is required. The correct choice depends on drilling fluid, operating temperature, pressure, liner condition and maintenance preference.
Q5: Are the pistons interchangeable with OEM pump parts?
A: Replacement pistons can be manufactured for common international and Chinese mud pump models. Interchangeability must be confirmed against the pump model, liner size, piston construction and critical dimensions before order confirmation.
Q6: What is the normal service life of a mud pump piston?
A: There is no single service-life figure that applies to every drilling operation. Actual service life depends on drilling fluid abrasiveness, solids content, temperature, pressure, pump speed, liner condition, installation and alignment.
Q7: Do you keep mud pump pistons in stock?
A: Common models and sizes may be available from stock or short production cycles. Stock availability changes by piston size, material and quantity. Send your requirement for current availability and delivery time.
