Description
Mud Pump Valve & Seat, Valve Bodies, Valve Seats and Inserts for Drilling Pump Fluid Ends
RIGRS is an established, API 7K certified manufacturer specializing in heavy-duty mud pump valve and seat assemblies for global oilfield drilling, workover, and well-servicing applications.
Mud pump valve and seat are key expendable parts installing in the fluid end of a drilling mud pump. During pump operation, the valve opens and closes repeatedly against the valve seat to control suction and discharge flow. The valve body, valve insert and valve seat must work together correctly, otherwise the pump may lose pressure, leak, vibrate or consume pistons and liners faster than expected.
Our complete line of valves, seats, and polyurethane inserts is 100% interchangeable with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Engineered to handle abrasive drilling conditions, high solids, and discharge pressures up to 7,500 psi, our valve and seat matched pairs help extend valve service life and reduce maintenance frequency.
Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ): 10 sets (Sample kits for rig-site testing available)

Mud Pump Valve & Seat Technical Specifications & Metallurgical Data
A reliable fluid end seal requires both the mud pump valve & seat to possess identical structural integrity and matching tapers. Our manufacturing process controls the metallurgy of both components to prevent premature washouts.
| Component / Part | Raw Material Specification | Core Heat Treatment | Surface Case Hardness | Technical Performance Standard |
| Valve Body | Premium Forged Alloy Steel (AISI 8620 / 20CrMnTi) | Controlled Quenching & Tempering | HRC 58–62 | One-piece forged body eliminates weld line failures; grain flow is aligned along the striking face. |
| Valve Seat | Premium Forged Alloy Steel (AISI 8620 / 20CrMnTi) | Carburizing Case Hardened | HRC 58–62 | Case depth of 1.5mm–2.0mm resists high-velocity fluid erosion and abrasive drilling mud cuts. |
| Snap-on Insert | High-Grade Polyurethane (Standard / High-Temp) | Controlled Casting & Curing | Shore A 92–95 | good resistance to wear and deformation; completely seals off fluid bypass under maximum pump strokes. |
Compatible Mud Pump Models
RIGRS can supply mud pump valves and seats for many common drilling mud pump models. Final compatibility should be confirming by pump model, valve size, seat type or old part information.
Common pump series include:
F series mud pumps
3NB series mud pumps
PZ series mud pumps
T series mud pumps
Emsco-style mud pumps
National-style mud pumps
Gardner Denver-style mud pumps
Bomco-style mud pumps
Honghua-style mud pumps
Other triplex drilling mud pumps
Do not select valves and seats only by pump brand. The same pump model may use different fluid end designs, valve sizes or seat structures depending on repair history, supplier source or regional configuration.
RIGRS mud pump valve & seat Quality Control System
Closed-Die Forging Integrity:
We do not use cast iron or round-bar stock machining for our valve bodies and seats. All units are forged via automated hydraulic presses to ensure a continuous, high-density grain structure that resists metal fatigue under cyclic fluid pounding.
Prussian Blue Taper Testing:
A fluid end washout occurs if there is even a Even small taper deviations can affect sealing performance between the valve seat exterior taper and the module bore. Every batch of RIGRS seats undergoes a 100% taper contact verification using API master gauges and Prussian Blue dye paste, guaranteeing a minimum of 95% uniform contact surface area.
Atmosphere Controlled Carburizing:
Our heat-treatment furnaces utilize an automated gas atmosphere control system. This ensures the mud pump valve & seat mating faces achieve a deep, consistent hard case (HRC 58-62) while keeping the core metal ductile enough to absorb high-frequency impacts without breaking.
Controlled Polyurethane Curing:
Inserts are cast using high-purity polyurethane pre-polymers under strict temperature curves. This process eliminates micro-voids and bubbles, preventing the insert from tearing, splitting, or extruding during high-temperature or high-pressure drilling runs.
RIGRS Quality Control Before Shipment
Mud pump valve and seat parts must fit correctly. Small dimensional mistakes can cause installation problems, leakage or early failure.
Before shipment, RIGRS can check:
Valve body appearance
The Valve insert condition
Valve rubber fit
Seat sealing surface
Seat taper and key dimensions
Matching of valve and seat
Quantity and marking
Packing condition
Product photos for buyer confirmation
For batch orders, parts can be packed and marked by pump model, size and quantity to make warehouse receiving easier.
RIGRS Mud Pump Valve & Seat(FAQ)
Q1: What insert materials do you recommend for high-temperature or oil-based mud (OBM) applications?
A: Our standard polyurethane inserts are ideal for water-based muds up to 82°C (180°F). For high-temperature, high-pressure (HTHP) wells, geothermal drilling, or applications using oil-based muds (OBM) containing harsh chemical additives, we supply specialized High-Temperature Urethane Inserts rated for continuous operation up to 150°C (300°F). These specialized inserts maintain their durometer hardness and resist chemical swelling or hydrolytic degradation.
Q2: How can we prevent premature valve seat washouts in our fluid end modules?
A: Seat washouts are typically causing by improper installation, a worn module bore, or poor taper alignment. Ensure that the module deck is completely clean, rust-free, and dry before installing the seat. Always use a hydraulic valve seat puller for extraction and installation. Never strike the seat face directly with a metal sledgehammer, as this creates micro-fractures in the carburized case layer.
Q3: Do you provide material test certificates (MTC) and traceability for bulk orders?
A: Yes. Every shipment of RIGRS valves and seats is issuing with a complete quality documentation pack. This includes raw material mill test certificates (MTC) detailing chemical composition and heat-treatment batch numbers, non-destructive testing (NDT) reports, and dimensional inspection logs tracking back to the original forging heat code.
Q4: Should mud pump valve and seat be replaced together?
A: If the seat sealing surface is worn, cracked, pitted or mismatching, replacing only the valve may not solve leakage. During pump overhaul, buyers often replace valve and seat sets together.
Can RIGRS supply valves and seats for F series mud pumps?
Yes. RIGRS can supply valve assemblies, valve bodies, seats, inserts and valve and seat sets for many common F series mud pumps. Final compatibility should be confirmed by pump model and old part information.
Q5: What insert material should I choose?
A: The insert material depends on drilling mud condition, temperature, pressure and service life requirement. Rubber and polyurethane inserts are commonly using, and special options can be discussed according to working conditions.
Q6: Can RIGRS supply other mud pump expendables?
A: Yes. RIGRS can supply mud pump liners, ceramic liners, pistons, piston rubbers, modules, piston rods, extension rods and other fluid end parts.
Q7: Can you supply F1600 valve and seat assemblies?
Yes. We supply F1600 mud pump valve and seat assemblies compatible with many F-series drilling mud pumps used in land and offshore drilling operations.
Q8: Do you manufacture F1300 valve and seat sets?
Yes. F1300 valve assemblies, valve bodies, valve seats and inserts are among our common replacement parts.
Q9: Are your valve and seat assemblies suitable for triplex mud pumps?
Yes. Our products are designed for triplex drilling mud pumps and can be supplied according to pump model and valve size.
Q10: What is the difference between valve insert and valve body?
The valve body is the forged steel component that provides structural strength. The valve insert is the sealing element that contacts the valve seat during operation.
Q11: Can you supply polyurethane valve inserts separately?
Yes. Valve inserts can be suppling separately in standard, high-temperature and special compound versions.
Q12: How often should mud pump valves and seats be replacing?
Replacement intervals depend on mud properties, pressure, pump speed and maintenance practices. Regular inspection is recommending during fluid end maintenance.
