What Is a API 16C Choke Manifold?

A choke manifold is a system composing of several valves, chokes, and connecting pipelines designing to control the pressure and flow of drilling fluids coming from the wellbore. During a kick or well control operation, it allows controlled flow from the well to maintain bottomhole pressure and prevent blowouts.

The main function is to control the flow rate and reduce wellhead pressure while circulating drilling fluids or kill mud into the well. It works together with the BOP (Blowout Preventer) stack and mud gas separator to maintain well stability and protect personnel and equipment.
