Description
RIGRS supplies floating marine oil hose assemblies for offshore crude oil and petroleum-product transfer systems, including Single Point Mooring (SPM), CALM buoy, FPSO and tanker-loading applications.
Floating hose configurations are available for different positions within the hose string, including reinforced end hose, mainline floating hose, reducing hose, tail hose and tanker hose. Single carcass and double carcass constructions can be supplied according to project requirements.
These hoses are not just flexible pipelines—they are precision-engineered products designed under GMPHOM 2009 standards with certification such as CCS (China Classification Society) to guarantee reliability in harsh marine environments.
Hose size, rated working pressure, length, buoyancy, carcass construction, flange configuration, electrical continuity and project inspection requirements should be confirmed before quotation.

What Are Floating Oil Hoses?
A floating marine hose is a large-bore flexible hose designed to remain buoyant at the sea surface while transferring crude oil, petroleum products or other approved fluids between an offshore mooring system and a tanker or production facility.
Buoyancy is normally provided by closed-cell foam incorporated into the hose body. The hose construction must also accommodate pressure, bending, tensile loading, seawater exposure, UV radiation and continuous dynamic movement.
Floating hoses are commonly used in SPM and CALM buoy loading systems, FPSO offloading arrangements and offshore tanker-transfer operations.
when the mediums(petroleum.gasoline, fuel, diesel oil)through the first carcase from the broken main hose. the broken part external diameter will increase by 35%, but it can keep working with low pressure (10Bar)This project can prevention the pollution of the oil spill.
The hose composition and raw material from inside to outside:inner rubber is nitrile butadiene rubber with fiber cords, Multi-Layers steel cords with wire helix for hose reinforcment,Extenal rubber is chloroprene with PE foam for buffer. The second carcase consist of steel cords. The floating layers are consist of multi-layers foam rubber and cover is chloroprene.
Single Carcass vs Double Carcass Floating Hose
Floating marine hoses may be supplied in single carcass or double carcass construction depending on the operator’s risk philosophy, environmental requirements and hose-system specification.
| Item | Single Carcass Hose | Double Carcass Hose |
|---|---|---|
| Primary carcass | Main pressure-containing hose body | Main pressure-containing hose body |
| Secondary containment | No secondary pressure-containment carcass | Includes an additional secondary carcass |
| Leak indication | Project-dependent | May incorporate an integrated leak-detection / indication system |
| Typical selection basis | Standard transfer duty where permitted by project specification | Applications requiring additional containment and environmental protection |
| Procurement data required | Size, pressure, hose position, fluid, flange, electrical requirement | Same data plus secondary-carcase / leak-detection requirements |
A double carcass hose is intended to provide secondary containment if the primary carcass develops a leak or failure. The exact leak-detection arrangement should be confirmed from the project specification and hose design.
Buyers should not select single or double carcass construction only by price. The decision should follow the terminal, operator, marine consultant or project specification.

The Single Carcass Hose construction consists of three main elements
(1)Smooth bore lining resistant to a variety of hyctocarbons ,
(2)High pressure resistance, strong tenslle strength and twisting force reinforcement layers, vacum resistance strength and bending strength steel wire
(3) Seawater resistance, anti aging,UV resistance and high tightness sea water outer acheslve layer
2.In additian to the standard hose carcass (commonly termed maine carcass),Double Carcass Hose incorporate anadditionalsecond carcass designed to contain any proctct escaping fromthe primary carcass as a result of a slow leak orsudden failure. An effective, robust and reliable, integrated leak detection and indication system is provided.

RIGRS Floating Oil Hoses Maintenance and Inspection:
To extend service life and avoid costly downtime, regular inspection is essential:
Visual Checks – Look for cuts, abrasions, or floatation loss.
Leak Detection Systems – Especially for double carcass hoses.
Pressure Testing – Ensures internal integrity.
Rotation & Storage – Extend service cycles by alternating hoses.
Offshore Marine Hose Applications
RIGRS floating oil hoses are intended for offshore marine transfer systems where flexible hose assemblies are required between a buoy, FPSO, offshore terminal and tanker.
Typical applications include:
Single Point Mooring (SPM) crude oil loading
CALM buoy loading and unloading systems
FPSO offloading systems
Shuttle tanker loading
Offshore petroleum-product transfer
Marine terminal hose-string replacement
Floating and submarine hose packages for offshore projects
Floating Hose for FPSO Offloading Systems
FPSO offloading systems may use floating, submarine or catenary hose arrangements depending on the mooring and export configuration. Floating hose sections are typically designed to accommodate vessel movement, wave action and repeated loading cycles while transferring crude oil or petroleum products to shuttle tankers.
For FPSO hose projects, procurement teams should provide:
Hose-system arrangement or GA drawing
Hose type and position in the string
Nominal bore
Rated working pressure
Product transferred
Hose length
Single or double carcass requirement
Flange specification
Electrical continuity requirement
Environmental design conditions
Required prototype / production test documentation
Classification or third-party inspection requirements
RIGRS can quote individual replacement hoses or complete hose-string packages according to the available FPSO or marine-terminal specification.
Electrical Continuity / Discontinuity Requirements
Electrical characteristics are an important part of offshore hose-system design. Depending on the hose position and project specification, the hose may require an electrically continuous or electrically discontinuous configuration.
Buyers should state the required electrical arrangement and resistance criterion in the purchase specification rather than assuming that all floating hoses use the same configuration.
Electrical test documentation can be included where required by the project.
